Rolling Snowball / 8 - Homecoming

2017年是荷兰王国驻广州总领事馆成立二十周年。欧艺作为荷兰在中国东南最重要的文化落脚点，策划并组织了与三影堂厦门摄影艺术中心联合主办的第八届“滚动中的雪球”中荷当代艺术联展，庆祝并加深中荷两国之间以艺术为纽带的文化往来。

自1999年以来，欧艺深深扎根于厦门这座亚热带岛屿，致力于为世界各地远道而来的艺术家们提供一个家一般的落脚点，为他们提供生活、创作、研究方面的支持。18年来，欧艺有幸参与了众多世界一流当代艺术家们终生难忘的探索与发现之旅，不断见证着认知被颠覆和重组的奇妙过程。而这也正是欧艺自创立之初便把通过跨文化对话实现思想的解放、蜕变及成长作为机构核心使命的原因。

第八届“滚动中的雪球”以《归》为题，探讨“家”和“回归”这两个概念在物质和精神层面的存在形式及美学意义，探究“别处”的别样美学。

2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou. In celebration of this meaningful occasion, CEAC, as the most important anchor point for the promotion of Dutch culture in Southeast China, has curated and organized the 8th edition of "Rolling Snowball", co-hosted by Three Shadows Xiamen Photography Art Centre, to deepen the cultural exchange between China and the Netherlands through contemporary art.

Since 1999, the Chinese European Art Center, deeply rooted in its home base on the subtropical island of Xiamen, has served as a home away from home to more than 300 artists and creative professionals from all around the world. For 18 years, CEAC has been fortunate to be a part of the life-changing, perception-altering journeys of some of the world’s most brilliant creative minds. Witnessing the familiar becomes unfamiliar and vice versa for those who engage in CEAC’s work, it was decided from the very beginning that liberation, transformation and growth through inter-cultural dialogues are at the core of CEAC’s organizational mission.

Titled "Homecomig", the 8th edition of "Rolling Snowball" discusses the form of existence and aesthetic significance of the concepts of home and returning home, exploring the aesthetics of "elsewhere".
